Magic Fit® blends the hard science of anthropometry with the art of draping cloth over the human body. We analysed the biometric data of 196 million data points from over 8,000 people and 2,000 manual tailoring sessions in our first shop to create the statistical foundation of the algorithm.

Statistics provide a great baseline, but stats alone cannot account for all the myriad variation in the human body resulting from genetics, diet and fitness. So we added a second layer of Natural Language Processing to the Magic Fit® algorithm. You know your body intimately, and if you tell us what makes your body unique, we can tweak the statistical model to be more accurate.

OUR EXPERIENCE MATTERS

Elegant mathematics are amazing, but there’s really no substitute for human experience. We're constantly doing IRL fittings with people of different heights, weights, and body shapes to build up our datasets and backfill any gaps identified in the statistical model. We literally see what works (and what doesn’t) on all shapes and sizes and continually finesse the pattern tolerances to make clothes that fit perfectly on every body.

Usually, due to my broad shoulders and chest relative to my height, I pretty much always end up with polos that are too long and have too much fabric in the mid-section so I have to pay to have them altered. The quality of the polo seems great so far, however I'll have to see how it goes over the rest of the summer and beyond to see its longevity.

Unfortunately, despite using the Magic Fit feature, my shirt was ill fitting. It was too big around the upper back, shoulders were too wide and neck area had gaping. Also my forearms area was tight. I emailed Citizen Wolf to advise and have sent the shirt back to be made to fit me. I haven't received it back yet but customer service have been supportive by sending me emails to ask my opinions of the alterations they want to do. So far, a pleasant experience and they are genuinely helpful in getting your clothing fitting well. Hoping to receive it soon

While I love the products, I struggled with the ordering process and outcome. I made a single order that included men’s and women’s items, which seemed to really throw a spanner in the works of the magic fit verification process. I was never sure what I’d verified and what was being manufactured and when. This needed an email exchange to sort through, but I still wasn’t clear what was going on. I was also a bit disappointed to receive a classic heavy long-sleeved crew t-shirt in black when I had ordered navy – I didn’t realise at the time because I had ordered a bunch of shirts and this one arrived on its own as the magic fit confirmation shirt. It was only weeks later when I was trying to work out which items had arrived and which ones I was still waiting for that I noticed the error. I’m not concerned about enough to actually send it back, but I’d have preferred the error didn’t happen! So, while I think the garments themselves are absolutely fantastic (and I still have a bunch of shirts I bought about 8 years ago that are still going strong) the issues with the fulfilment process mean I can only give 4/5.

My main issues were as follows: I ordered The Short Crew and I used 'Magic fit' and added some notes on how I wanted it to look. The first tee they sent was so far off the brief of a boxy oversize tee, it was like a rash shirt. I then asked for changes. I provided some photos and suggested the type of boxy look they could copy (Carhartt). The second tee was an improvement but not much better. It was still long and slim rather than short and boxy. I took a bunch of photos to submit for another one then my guilt about waste got the better of me so I gave up. Don't get me wrong, the t-shirt looks good. It's just not what I asked for. My suggestion: don't use Magic fit and be very, very specific. I really wanted this to be my go-to tee because the idea is great, the execution just wasn't there.

I have put on some weight as I’ve got older but I’m certainly not exceptionally large. I knew the measurements their algorithm came up with would be too small so I increased the measurements. Which was fortunate because the top did then fit my body. What I hadn’t anticipated was that the neck was far too tight, I could barely pull the t-shirt over my head. And the sleeves were also far too tight around the upper arms. My body is not in any way out-of-the-normal in those respects, so I don’t understand this. I did my best in taking a photo and tried to explain in words and sent back my comments. I also asked if I could change to a Long Mock top (rather than the Turtleneck) because of the tight neck - though I realised this might not be possible. Well that was weeks ago. And I have heard crickets. Pretty poor after all the drum beating about free alterations. In any case I was somewhat disappointed by the thinness of the fabric. So I’ve given the top to the Salvos hoping someone with a thin neck and thin arms finds it useful. And I went shopping at Myers and bought a good quality top that fits me well at a cheaper price. I won’t be shopping here again so won’t be using the $10 offered for a review. This was an expensive learning experience.
