We've been proudly making in Australia since we began over 2 years ago, so we're thrilled to announce that we're officially Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA) accredited! We're also chuffed by the lovely things they said about us:
“Citizen Wolf is such a good story – they are offering shoppers a custom made product and at the same time adding to the sustainability of the industry by not producing fast-fashion products that don’t fit properly or that no-one wants to buy.” - Angela Bell, ECA National Manager.
ECA is a voluntary accreditation program performed by an independent third party to ensure our local supply chain is both fully transparent and legally compliant. By supporting ECA accredited brands like Citizen Wolf and others you are voting with your wallet to keep our local industry alive as well as protecting the lives of Australian workers.
You may not know but until the 1990's we produced most of our own clothing right here in Australia. Since then the local Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) manufacturing industry has been decimated as production moved offshore chasing the lowest cost in a race to the bottom on wages. And you don't have to be Einstein to draw a direct line from there to the environmental and ethical catastrophe of fast fashion that we find ourselves in today.
This accreditation has been a long time coming but it's just the beginning of our journey to formalising how we operate and act as a co-inhabitor of the only one planet that we have. Next stop B-Corp!
