International Women’s Day is a globally recognised celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Happening for over a century - the first day was way back in 1911 - it's not country, group or organisation specific but belongs to all groups everywhere calling for equality.
This year's theme is #BalanceforBetter, a call to action for a more gender-balanced world whose root is not a women's issue but a business one. We couldn't be happier to join the call for a more gender-balanced boardroom; government; media and sports coverage; as well as more gender-balance within the workplace itself and also wealth. Crucially we're striving for a balance that will allow our communities to thrive socially and economically
Falling on the 8th of March every year, International Women’s Day this year aptly comes after the recent Women’s March held in Sydney in January which drew thousands of men, women and children to the streets, signifying there is still much more for our nation to achieve...
Sydney is our home and its women are a core part of our wolf pack which is why we're honoured to give them a voice and share some of their thoughts on #BalanceforBetter. We've brought together four real women each with a different life story, a different perspective and at different stages in their lives which you can follow over on our Instagram or Youtube channel.
We also implore you to get involved in the social movement by posting an International Women’s Day ‘hands out’ post using the hashtags #IWD2019 and #BalanceforBetter. You can also celebrate, raise awareness and rally for change at registered events or host your own within the community thanks to a wealth of resources on the official IWD website.
